Air Montenegro and Turkish Airlines have entered into a codeshare agreement aimed at enhancing international travel options for passengers flying to and from Montenegro. This partnership enables both airlines to sell seats on certain flights operated by the other, thereby expanding routing and scheduling alternatives within a unified booking system.
As part of this agreement, Turkish Airlines will place its code on Air Montenegro flights connecting Istanbul with Podgorica and Tivat, thus improving access to Montenegro via one of Europe’s major aviation hubs. Concurrently, Air Montenegro will add its code to select Turkish Airlines flights departing from Istanbul to various long-haul and regional destinations, facilitating smoother connections for Montenegrin travelers to a wider international network.
This marks the first codeshare agreement for Air Montenegro since its inception, representing a significant step in the airline’s network expansion strategy. By collaborating with a prominent global airline, Air Montenegro can tap into existing transfer flows, gain greater visibility in international booking systems, and enhance its attractiveness to inbound tourists as well as outbound business travelers.
For Turkish Airlines, this partnership solidifies its presence in Southeast Europe and enhances passenger traffic into its long-haul network through Istanbul. Both airlines anticipate that the collaboration will improve load factors, optimize route economics, and boost overall service competitiveness without necessitating immediate capacity increases.
Executives from both airlines have noted that the codeshare arrangement is intended to foster tourism growth, facilitate business travel, and strengthen economic ties between Montenegro, Türkiye, and additional markets. As operational and commercial integration advances, passengers can expect coordinated schedules, streamlined ticketing processes, and enhanced transfer experiences, positioning this partnership as a strategic move towards deeper airline collaboration in the region.
