Montenegro and Austria have established stable economic ties, yet there remains significant potential to enhance cooperation, particularly in the areas of exports, production development, and joint investment initiatives. This perspective was highlighted during a business forum held in Podgorica, organized by the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro in collaboration with the Commercial Section of the Austrian Embassy and the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber.
The president of the Chamber of Economy, Nina Drakić, emphasized that Austria is a key economic partner and investor for Montenegro. She noted the importance of such forums as platforms for fostering direct connections among companies, institutions, and investors, with an emphasis on transport, logistics, infrastructure, and broader connectivity.
Majda Adžović, Minister of Public Works, remarked that the relationship between Montenegro and Austria is founded on trust, bolstered by the longstanding presence of Austrian firms in Montenegro. She highlighted ongoing efforts in Montenegro to modernize infrastructure, enhance the business environment, and align with European standards to create favorable conditions for new investments.
Austrian Embassy trade attaché Anna Salehi acknowledged the growing interest among Montenegrin companies in collaborating with Austrian counterparts. The forum facilitated bilateral meetings where participating companies explored potential partnerships across various sectors including infrastructure, construction, energy, transport, logistics, tourism, healthcare, and more.
This forum reflects Montenegro’s broader economic strategy to expand its engagement with Austria beyond traditional trade avenues towards investment opportunities, project development, and tangible business collaborations. Notably, sectors where Montenegro seeks external expertise include infrastructure development, energy management, logistics enhancements, and tourism-related projects.
