The Port of Bar reported a cargo throughput of approximately 684,330 tonnes in the first half of 2026, marking a significant 19% decrease compared to the same timeframe in the previous year. In the first half of 2025, the port had handled about 849,140 tonnes, as detailed in the latest business report from port management.
For the first six months of 2026, the port aimed to achieve a target of 1.01 million tonnes, indicating that actual throughput reached only 67.59% of its annual business plan goal. This shortfall underscores the operational difficulties encountered by Montenegro’s largest commercial port.
The report indicated that declines were observed across all major cargo categories relative to last year. Dry bulk cargo remained the predominant segment, with around 540,000 tonnes processed during this period. Additionally, liquid cargo contributed approximately 133,930 tonnes, while general cargo accounted for just 10,420 tonnes.
These results reflect ongoing challenges for the Port of Bar as it concluded the first half of 2026 well below both its historical performance and its projected cargo volumes.
