Sun Princess makes history in Montenegro’s cruise industry

This morning, the Sun Princess mega-cruise ship from Princess Cruises, an American company, arrived at the port of Bar with 4,170 tourists and 1,620 crew members on board.

This marks the largest cruise ship ever to enter Montenegro’s ports, according to the Primorski portal, signaling the start of this year’s cruising season in Bar.

Jovan Moric, representing the agency Boka Adriatica, noted that the Sun Princess is the largest cruise ship to navigate Montenegrin waters to date, with eight planned visits to the port of Bar.

The Sun Princess, a newly constructed vessel with a weight of 177,880 tons and a length of 345 meters, boasts a capacity of 4,300 passengers and is serviced by a crew of 1,150. It spans 21 decks.

Manufactured at the Fincantieri shipyard, it holds the distinction of being Italy’s largest ship construction project. Furthermore, it stands as Fincantieri’s inaugural LNG-powered cruise ship.

Embarking on its maiden commercial Mediterranean voyage from the port of Civitavecchia on February 28, the Sun Princess has a draft of 8.9 meters, making it the largest vessel to dock in Bar.

Moored at the Port of Adria terminal until 6 p.m., the Sun Princess will depart thereafter.
