Montenegro plans to have six regional agricultural offices

Montenegro’s plan is to have six regional agricultural offices in Bijelo Polje, Berane, Podgorica, Nikšić, Pljevlja and Bar. The House of Agriculture already exists in Bijelo Polje, the preliminary and main project for the facility in Berane is being developed, and now approval has been given for the construction of the regional office in Pljevlja.

As the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, Joković, said at the last session of the Government, a tender for this facility is expected soon.

– The government has given consent for the construction of the House of Agriculture in Pljevlja, as the third regional office, the establishment of which will be fully realized with the support of the funds of the MIDAS 2 project. This office space would be used for the accommodation of state institutions and services that have their branches in Pljevlja, which do not have a permanent solution to the issue of business spaces, as well as local agricultural services – announced the Government.

It was estimated that all local and regional agricultural services will be in one place, which would enable farmers to fulfill their requests more easily and quickly and get the necessary information.

The Government reminded that this project is being implemented within the framework of the agreement with the World Bank on a loan for the implementation of the second project of institutional development and strengthening of agriculture in Montenegro (MIDAS 2), with the aim of improving the competitiveness of the agriculture and fisheries sector in Montenegro, through enhanced state support in in accordance with the requirements for EU accession, local media reports.
