The growing emphasis on documented and verified renewable electricity is reshaping the energy market across Europe. Industrial consumers, energy traders, utilities, and financial institutions are increasingly prioritizing electricity that supports broader decarbonization initiatives. This market evolution creates demand for new energy infrastructure investments, including generation assets, transmission capacity, battery storage, and systems for tracking the origin of electricity.
Geographically, Montenegro benefits from a strategic location along the Adriatic coast with direct electrical connections to Balkan and European markets. The submarine interconnector linking Montenegro to Italy enhances its position as a conduit to one of Europe’s largest electricity markets, making it increasingly valuable as renewable energy use expands in Southern Europe.
Resource quality also favors Montenegro’s ambitions. The southern region boasts high solar irradiation levels comparable to established solar markets in Europe.
